ST. PETERSBURG — Pinellas County's top teacher rode to work in style Thursday morning.

Lisa Fagan-Brown took a limo to the James B. Sanderlin Elementary IB World School and got a rousing greeting from students and staff.

Fagan-Brown, a library information specialist, was named Outstanding Educator for 2010, the school district's top honor, during a ceremony at Ruth Eckerd Hall on Wednesday night.

She got a standing ovation Wednesday and had to make her way through a throng of well-wishers Thursday morning when she arrived at the school about 9 a.m.

"What a great honor, I feel humbled and honored," said Fagan-Brown. "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you guys."

Fagan-Brown, a 1991 University of South Florida graduate who joined the district in 1992, has been at Sanderlin since 2004, where she runs the library, prepares students for the Battle of the Books, leads the Principal's Multicultural Advisory Student Committee and started a girls social club.
