Chad Blanchard, above, demonstrates one of Waste Management's new $400,000 compressed natural gas, or CNG, trucks Thursday at the company's facility in Tampa. Starting Monday, 22 of the new CNG trucks, shown at left at their recharging stations, will begin servicing some Hillsborough County customers, using an automated hopper system that can grab a can and empty it in about 5 seconds. The company also installed a filling station to dock each truck, refueling overnight for increased capacity. The station and trucks represent an $11 million investment in CNG, with benefits of lower fuel costs, quieter trucks and lower emissions.
