TAMPA — Got an electric car?
On Thursday, drivers who have them can charge them for free from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the AAA Auto Club South office at 1515 N West Shore Blvd.
The station can charge up to four vehicles and produces 240 volts of electricity that allows drivers to "top off" their vehicle's charge in 30 to 60 minutes.
AAA says the charging station will be the first in the Tampa Bay area, with a second station scheduled to open at their Palm Harbor office in mid-July.
They're part of a national network of charging stations that eventually will include locations at restaurants, offices and government facilities.
