Gulfport firefighters rescue ducklings from drain

GULFPORT — Firefighters came to the rescue of a group of ducklings that apparently fell through a storm drain near 53rd Street and Gulfport Boulevard, officials said. Passersby noticed the mother duck wandering near the drain and notified the nearby fire station upon discovering the ducklings. Four firefighters carefully reached into the drain, plucked the ducklings out one-by-one. None of the duckings were harmed. They were later released with their mother into a pond a few blocks away.
