Video: Wandering bear pays visit to Florida deputy

A typical service call resulted in quite the hairy visit for a Marion County deputy over the weekend.

A video posted on the Marion County Sheriff's Office Facebook page on Sunday morning shows a bear meandering on a roadway near the Ocklawaha Prairie Restoration Area, just feet from the deputy.

"Hey buddy," the deputy could be heard saying from just outside his patrol vehicle as the seemingly harmless bear walks across the street and along the other side of the roadway before turning toward the deputy.

That cause the deputy to perhaps have second thoughts about engaging the bear before saying "All right, all right, I'm going to get back in" — and retreating to the safety of his vehicle.

No word on whether the bear was trying to make friends, maybe had some dangerous intentions ... or channeling his inner Yogi Bear and just hunting down a picnic basket.
