'God bless America'

In Print: Sunday, September 11, 2011

A red-white-and-blue history lesson took the 4-year-old preschoolers outside Friday at First United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, where they commemorated the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks by releasing balloons from the church steps, waving U.S. flags and saying “God bless America” to passers-by. Above, the preschoolers, including Warren Lang, left to right from the big flag, Colston Cotignola and Trent Burket, wave their flags. In the photo at right, Kate Lyle hangs onto her balloon as she watches her classmates’ balloons float higher and higher into the sky.
