TAMPA—Tampa General Hospital was named one of the top 100 hospitals in America for the fifth consecutive year, and second best in Florida, according to one health industry website.

Tampa General is considered the best hospital in the Tampa area, according to Becker's Healthcare. The hospital is known for its Level One trauma center, regional burn center, and is one of the busiest transplant centers in the country.

"Hospitals on the list have been recognized nationally for excellence in clinical care, patient outcomes, and staff and physician satisfaction," according to the Becker's website. "These institutions are industry leaders that have achieved advanced accreditation and certification in several specialties."

TGH is the only hospital listed in the top 100 on Florida's west coast.

The other two Florida hospitals on the list are the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville and the Mayo-Clinic Jacksonville, which is listed as the best hospital in the state.
