Kids celebrate Veterans Day

Spring Hill Elementary faculty, staff and students held their second annual Veterans Day program on Friday, honoring veterans with a breakfast buffet and entertainment provided by the students. After the breakfast, more than 200 students gathered in the courtyard, waving American flags and singing My Country Tis of Thee. Third-grade teacher Barbara O'Sullivan, whose husband is a veteran, coordinated the program. She said the idea started when a student in her class last year told her that his father was deployed in Afghanistan. O'Sullivan started the program as a way to teach children to honor the veterans who have served and are now serving in the armed forces.
