Hometown North Pinellas for Aug. 29

David Graniero was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Daughters of Italy Lodge #2825 at its July meeting.

The lodge, which is the Clearwater chapter of the Order Sons of Italy in America, presented Graniero with a Certificate of Excellence, the OSIA Dante Medal and a copy of Italian Americans of the Twentieth Century.

Graniero, an International Baccalaureate program graduate and valedictorian of Gulf High School, will attend the University of Florida. He is the son of Lynn and David J. Graniero of New Port Richey.

The Clearwater Lady Bombers 12U team won the National Softball Association 12U B World Series in June at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex. The team, which has been playing together for the past two years, played against 17 teams from five states. The Lady Bombers finished the spring season 54-27-7 playing teams in the 12U division around the state.
