St. Pete student named to dean's list at Stephens College: Aja Depass of St. Petersburg was named to the honors dean's list for the fall semester of the 2016-17 year. Depass is a senior majoring in theater management. Stephens College is located in Columbia, Mo.

Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce member recognized for service: Doug Izzo, Government Affairs Representative of the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce, was presented with the 2016 Industry Advocate Award by the Vacation Rental Alliance. The alliance is comprised of the area's resort condominium management companies.

    ST. PETERSBURG — The local community college had already made a name for itself when William Law Jr. first arrived on campus in the early 1980s as a vice president. Still, the school, then named St. Petersburg Junior College, was just a shadow of the sprawling state college it would later become.
