A 'Cinderella Prom' dream come true

Patricia's Boutique in downtown Brooksville and the Brooksville Junior Service League have made their annual "Cinderella Prom" dream come true for 18-year-old Amanda Miller, a senior at Hernando High School. Miller, whose mother died at the start of the school year, had to sacrifice extracurricular activities such as softball to help care for her younger sister, Lindsey, 14, and work a part-time job to help her father pay utility bills. The partnership between Patricia's Boutique and the Junior Service League will pay for Amanda's prom expenses, including the dress, earrings, tickets, shoes and a hair salon visit. It also will pay for a tuxedo for her boyfriend, Jesse Jerome, 19, who will accompany her, and bring the total expense to about $1,000. Each year, the "Cinderella Prom" awards a deserving student who has completed her community service duties, participates in extracurricular activities and has outside circumstances beyond her control.
