Here are two cool ways to beat the heat in Largo this weekend: a musical production in the air-conditioned comfort of a theater or the first Flick N Float of the season.
On Friday night, plop yourself down in the Largo Cultural Center, 105 Central Park Drive, Largo, to watch High School Musical 2 performed by the city's Theater Camp. Kids, ages 12 through 18, portray Troy, Gabriella and the gang from East High School in a 7 p.m. show. There will also be an 11 a.m. matinee on Saturday.
If you'd rather take a dip Friday night, venture over to the Flick N Float at Southwest Pool, 13120 Vonn Road, Largo.
The movie, Mouse Hunt, begins at dusk, but the pool opens at 7:30 p.m. with floats provided. Hot dogs will be handed out for free and other concessions will be available for purchase.
New this year will be Relaxation Hour for adults from 6 to 7 p.m.
Along with adult-only time, there will be soothing music with message therapists providing free massages. Cost: $4 with card; $5 without card. Child care for kids ages 3 and older will be available next door at Southwest Recreation Center for $3.
Other Flick N Float nights and movies planned are July 10, Kung Fu Panda; July 17, How the Grinch Stole Christmas; July 24, Matilda; and July 31, Madagascar 2.
