Is it just me, or does someone else think the following terms should be banned from politics?

"Family values" and "sanctity of marriage."

It's not that I'm opposed to those traits — who would be? — but in the wake of so many scandals in both parties, I'm longing for candidates to define themselves with plans instead of platitudes, vision instead of virtue. …

Almost a week after staff writer David DeCamp wrote about how no Pinellas County elected official has stepped up to be the champion of rail for that side of the bay, St. Petersburg City Council chairman Jeff Danner has invited all the county's transportation and transit agencies to a workshop to help get the ball rolling. Sounds like leadership to me. …

The Commercial Real Estate Women of Tampa Bay has joined forces with several other groups to bring a renowned economist to town July 7. Texas A&M University's Mark Dotzour looks to lend clarity not only to folks in commercial real estate, but to the business community as a whole.
