On Friday, 2008 Sungoddess Taylor Traviesa and Mr. Sun Thomas H. Gregory are crowned at the Coliseum in St. Petersburg.

ST. PETERSBURG — Thomas H. Gregory, a founding partner in Gregory, Sharer and Stuart and veteran volunteer for numerous community and civic efforts, was named Mr. Sun on Friday in ceremonies at the Coliseum. In addition to other significant involvements, he is a past director and president of the Suncoasters, who produce the Festival of States, St. Petersburg's yearly spring celebration. The announcement was made at the Suncoasters' annual Coronation Ball. Gregory, 70, also a longtime member and past chairman of the board of trustees at St. Petersburg College, was influential in establishing a respected applied ethics course at the school, where the ethics building bears his name. He is a St. Petersburg native and has a degree in business administration from Florida State University. He and his wife, Reed, have two children. Taylor Traviesa, a telecommunications major at the University of Florida, was named the 2008 Sungoddess at the Festival of States Coronation Ball. She is a member of Kappa Delta sorority, the university's Panhellenic recruitment board, and the Gator Growl staff; volunteers at Lake Forest Deaf Ward; and is a UF dance marathon dancer. She will receive $5,000 in scholarships.
