The public is invited to the 31st annual Pennsylvania Dutch Picnic at 9 a.m. April 26 in Shelter 5 at Fred Howard Park, 1700 Sunset Dr., Tarpon Springs.

Bring a lunch, beverage, chair and any games or pictures the group would enjoy. A Pennsylvania Dutch dish to share is optional.

Early arrival is encouraged, as the park gates close when Fred Howard beach is full.

Clearwater Kennel Club, a nonprofit organization, is seeking new members interested in learning about dogs through seminars, training sessions and exhibitions.

Tampa Bay Backgammon Club meets every Thursday at the Macedonian Society Club, 1895 Virginia Ave., Clearwater.

The club will host a double elimination backgammon tournament April 26 at 1 p.m. with prizes for first, second and third places. American Backgammon Tour rules will apply.

Enter early, as participation will be limited to the first 32 entrants.

Entry fee is $10, with optional $5 side pool.

Members from all over the South will arrive for the Soroptimist International of America's 82nd Southern Region Conference, April 17-20 at the Hilton Clearwater Beach, 400 Mandalay Ave.

Pinellas County Commissioner Karen Seel has recognized the week of April 13-20 as Soroptimist Southern Region Week and April 19 as Soroptimist Southern Region Day.

Soroptimist International is the world's largest nonprofit, international volunteer service organization for business and professional women working to improve lives by ending poverty and violence against women and girls.

Cherie Albury has recently been elected the newest member to the board of directors for the Francis Wilson Playhouse, 302 Seminole St., Clearwater.
