CARROLLWOOD — Supporters have come through for two local animal rescue operations: Equestrian Club Country and Fix & Feed Feline Feral.
The two operations at the end of Timberlan Street said they faced eviction if they could not raise $12,000 for the property tax bill. Neither organization owns the 10 acres, but the current owner lets them stay as long as they pay the property taxes. Beyond that, they don't pay rent.
After a fundraising drive this spring, the organizations did raise the money they needed to cover the taxes, said Glenda Smith, who founded the horse rescue. The farm sits north of Gunn Highway, just south of Hillsborough County's Timberlan Park. For information, visit www.equestrianclubcountry.org.
