Citizens action network meets about proposed RaceTrac

United Citizens' Action Network (U-CAN) will host an informational meeting regarding a RaceTrac gas station proposed for the southeast corner of Lumsden Road and Kings Avenue on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Brandon Assembly of God Annex, 710 S Kings Ave.

In 2002, as part of a planned development agreement with the county, 39.5 acres at Lumsden and Kings was designated as wetlands. Developers are now seeking a waiver on that agreement that would allow construction on 2 acres of the property.

U-CAN seeks to block the proposal. Nearby residents believe the project will threaten the wetlands and also create additional traffic.
