Pinellas Unified Family Court Judge Patrice Moore accepts 1,625 stuffed animals Wednesday on behalf of the 6th Judicial Circuit from Northside Christian School National Junior Honor Society member Max Roix and other eighth-grade NJHS members at the Pinellas County Criminal Justice Center. The animals were collected in a four-day schoolwide drive in May as an NJHS community service project under Stuffed Animals for Emergencies, or SAFE. "It was everyone doing their part to bless others," said Northside Christian's NJHS academic adviser Theresa Hicks. "Our school family wanted to make a difference in other families' lives." The stuffed animals will be handed out by judges, court staff and bailiffs to children in court for hearings and adoption and dependency proceedings in Pasco and Pinellas counties.
