A New Generation hosts 'Standing Firm' 2010 Life Banquet: 7 p.m., Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Family Life Center, 200 Mount Fair Ave., Brooksville. The keynote speaker will be David C. Gibbs III with the Christian Law Association, a legal missionary defending the rights of churches and Christians nationwide through Legal Alert. Hernando County Water Awareness Series presents 'Rain Barrel Workshop': 10 a.m.-noon, Hernando County Utilities, 21030 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. The workshop will be presented by John Korycki of Florida Yards and Neighborhoods, who will discuss how using rain barrels in the landscape can help reduce dependence on irrigation. Marine Corps League Daly Detachment 1002 to host Marine Corps' 235th birthday party: VFW Post 9236, 3435 Shoal Line Blvd., Hernando Beach.
