Feeding America Tampa Bay has enormous new donated cooler

Feeding America Tampa Bay has an enormous new food cooler, thanks to an assist by Tampa-based Ovations Food Services.

The national food and beverage service provider to more than 135 public assembly facilities across North America solicited the donation of a large walk-in cooler for the charity and oversaw the installation, according to a news release.

Feeding America is the largest domestic hunger relief organization in the country, consisting of a network of more than 200 food banks.

Ovations worked with a St. Petersburg-based company Florida Agents/Arctic Industries on the donation of the custom-made 20 foot by 20 foot by 7-foot-8 walk-in cooler as well as installation oversight by David Kiser.

The custom cooler, at 3,100 cubic feet, can potentially hold 86,800 pounds of solid food.

Ovations is a subsidiary of the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm Comcast-Spectacor. Locally, Ovations operates at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo, Ruth Eckerd Hall & Capitol Theatre, the Lakeland Center, Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens and consults at the David A. Straz Jr., Center for the Performing Arts.
