Former Tampa congressman recovering from broken hip

Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Sam Gibbons is recovering from a broken hip after a fall in Washington. Gibbons, 90, is in "good health, good spirits and raring to go," said his son, lawyer Cliff Gibbons.

Gibbons was working at a fiscal summit when he tripped April 30. Gibbons, a D-day veteran, said, "I can't believe after 50 parachute jumps and 90 years of age, I've never broken a bone," his son recalled."

He'll spend time in rehabilitation before returning to Tampa.
