Fox 13's top anchor, John Wilson, announces retirement

Fox TV station WTVT's top anchor, John Wilson, announced Friday that he is retiring.

Wilson has been on Tampa Bay area television since 1981 and has worked at Fox 13 since 1993.

He announced during the station's 6 p.m. broadcast that he will step down in November.

He and his wife, voice coach Mary K. Wilson, are well known for their singing performances around the region.

They have three sons: Paul, who owns an advertising company; Mark, an anchor and reporter at WTVT; and Patrick, an actor whose credits include Hollywood hits Insidious and The Conjuring.
