TAMPA — The N Boulevard Bridge will turn into a giant water slide today for a block party near the Hillsborough River.
The slide, brought by Utah-based Slide the City, opens at 9 a.m. and shut downs around 7 p.m. It is about 1,000 feet long.
Early birds were able to get tickets for as low as $10, but prices climbed leading up to the event. Visitors could get three-ride tickets for $35 on Friday. Today, they're $45. A one-time slide will cost $25. An unlimited pass gives you three hours of endless sliding for $65.
Sliders need to be at least 5 years old and 46 inches tall.
"This is the first bridge slide we've ever done," the company's owner, Spencer Hunn, told the Tampa Bay Times in February. "We Utah boys love to sled and ski, so I would think it would be fun to be able to sled in Tampa for the first time ever."
