Green Thumb Festival brings color to a sunny weekend

Katie Shaw, 7, of Gulfport checks out a monarch butterfly at the butterfly tent while attending the Green Thumb Festival with her mom and brother on Sunday. Barry Edwards has been putting up a butterfly tent for 17 years at the Green Thumb Festival as a way to educate people about the life cycles of plants and butterflies, and encourages everyone under 18 to take home a free plant, to learn responsibility and hopefully attract a few of their own bright-winged creatures.
