Halloween happenings: Oct. 30-31

The following Halloween parties and events are planned:

Haunted Trail on Golddust, 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 5277 Golddust Road, west of Brooksville (from Barclay, turn west on Highgrove, then left onto Golddust). Guided tour through a wooded trail; wear appropriate footwear. $5 per person, with funds raised going to the Humane Society of the Nature Coast and another charitable organization. (352) 263-8044.

Hernando Heritage Museum's annual Haunted House, 7 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 601 Museum Court, off Saxon Avenue, Brooksville. The cost to enter the three-story haunted house is $5 per person (not recommended for children younger than 8). Outdoors, there will be a bonfire with a marshmallow roast and storytelling for the children. There will also be a fortune teller. Hot dogs, snacks, drinks and baked goods will be available. Haunted House, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, 2322 Meadow Lark Road (behind Freedom Field), Spring Hill. Free. (352) 686-0152.

Trunk-or-Treat, 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Kennedy Park, 875 Kennedy Blvd., Brooksville. Sponsored by Shiloh Problem Solvers and All Pro Dad of South Brooksville. There will be candy, food and music.

Filipino-American Social Club's Halloween Fright Night Costume Party/Dinner-Dance, 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Hernando County Senior Citizens Club, 7925 Rhanbuoy Road. This is a family potluck event; children are welcome. Bring a dish. $12 for adults; children 12 and younger admitted free. Music provided by DJ Willie Matos of Professional Exclusive New York DJ Entertainment. There will be a costume contest for adults and children, with prizes. Latin-American Civic and Cultural Association Halloween Masquerade Dance, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, SNPJ Hall/Suncoast Dance Party Center, 13383 County Line Road, Spring Hill. Music by the Son De Mi Tierra band and a professional DJ. Prizes awarded for best costume. Food available for purchase or bring your own snacks and beverages (no large coolers permitted). Marine Corps League Detachment 708 Halloween Costume Party, 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, 8405 Sunshine Grove Road, west of Brooksville. $5 at the door. Bring a covered dish or snack. Prizes awarded for the best individual, couple and group costumes. The lounge will be open for beverages. (352) 597-7979.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8681 Doo Wop Halloween Costume Party Dinner-Dance, Saturday, 18940 Drayton St., at County Line Road, Shady Hills. Cocktails at 5 p.m., dinner from 6 to 8 p.m., and music from 8 to 11 p.m. Music provided by So Fine. Door and best costume prizes awarded. Reservations required by today. Christian Church in the Wildwood's Trails of Treats, 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, 10051 Country Road, north of Weeki Wachee. Includes candy, inflatables, popcorn and cotton candy.

Lighthouse Baptist Church Fall Festival, 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunshine Grove Road, west of Brooksville. Includes food, games, hayrides, candy and prizes. This is a free event, but donations are appreciated.

Eden Baptist Church Fall Festival, 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, 22308 Lake Lindsey Road, north of Brooksville. Featuring free games, food, candy, hayrides and more. Donations of nonperishable foods accepted for Love Your Neighbor's food pantry. Biblical and non-scary costumes welcome.

Hernando County Foster Parent Association's Fall Dinner Dance and Halloween Party, 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, VFW Post 10209, 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive. There will be entertainment, prizes and raffle baskets. Children will receive candy. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 4-12. (352) 754-0377.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10209 Halloween Party, 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, in the canteen, 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive, Spring Hill. Entertainment provided by Vintage (Rusty & Nick). Includes a costume contest with prizes awarded for scariest, funniest and most original costumes. (352) 796-0398.
