Halloween to-do list starts with a spooky train ride

Nothing matches the spookiness of the woods at night. Add a few ghosts, goblins and giant spiders lurching from the darkness, and you've got one scary train ride.

CP&G Railroad will continue its Halloween train rides from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Crews Lake Wilderness Park, 16739 Crews Lake Drive, Shady Hills.

This is the third year for the fright night rides.

"You're in the middle of the woods, you're riding the railroad at night in the pure dark, and all of the sudden something jumps out at you," said Bill Donati, president of the CP&G Railroad club. "Everybody loved it."

The rides last about 20 minutes. The cost is $5 per adult, $3 per children, maximum $25 per immediate family (plus the $2 parking fee), unlimited rides.

Halloween Boo Bash: 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at VFW Post 6180, 11551 Osceola Drive, New Port Richey. Costume contest and "Skaraoke" with Renee and Don. Food available.
