The recently renovated Rachel's Barn at HOPE Youth Ranch in Hudson has become the heart of the ranch's equine center. The facility serves teen girls in the foster care system and area students with special needs.
HOPE's equine center is named in memory of Rachel Bodi Lavine, 25, who died in a motorcycle accident July 21 in Odessa. Rachel's husband, firefighter James Lavine, and more than 150 firefighters volunteered to fix up the center's barn.
Renovations have included 10 relocated stalls, new paint, sand to level the interior, new lighting, a horse wash rack and more. The official dedication is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday at the ranch.
