Methodist Men: 6:30 p.m. Monday, First United Methodist Church, 109 S Broad St. Bruce Gimbel, founder and executive director of Jericho Road Ministries, will speak as part of the "Faith and Community" series of public forums. AARP Hernando County East Chapter 1026: 11:30 a.m. June 30, Buffet City, 13235 Cortez Blvd. Ron VanMetre of People Helping People will discuss "Blessings in a Backpack." Also, a speaker from Hernando County Emergency Management will discuss hurricane preparedness. Members are asked to bring a donation of a nonperishable food item. Reservations are required. Hernando Hills Hi-Lites: Open house, 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Fellowship Community Church, 11250 Spring Hill Drive. Light refreshments and beverages will be served. Observers welcome, as well as those who would like to sing along with the chorus. This is a women's a cappella chorus that sings contemporary and traditional songs in 4-part harmony, under the direction of Jeannine Zack. Rehearsals are at 7 p.m. Mondays. New members welcome. Illinois Club of Spring Hill: Red, White and Blue Pot Luck Luncheon, 1 p.m. July 1, Forest Oaks Lutheran Church, 8555 Forest Oaks Blvd. The luncheon will include desserts. Members are asked to bring the entree they signed up for, as well as their own soft drinks and place settings. There will be a vote on a restaurant for the following Wednesday's meeting.
