Hernando Beach

Hernando Beach Club: Jazz on the Beach, 6 p.m. Saturday. The event includes dinner and dancing to music of Southern Exposure. Cost is $14 for members, $18 for guests. The cost is $10 or dinner ticket for members, $12 for guests; reservations are required by Wednesday. A cash bar is available. Nonmembers can participate in two dinners without joining the club. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9236: 3435 Shoal Line Blvd. The Ladies Auxiliary will host a Beach Party on Saturday afternoon. There will be burgers and entertainment, with live music by Clint Giesler. The Men's Auxiliary will serve breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 30. Spring Hill

AARP Hernando County, Chapter 1026: Noon Thursday, Atria Evergreen Woods, 7030 Evergreen Woods Trail. The speaker will be Janet Clymer of HPH Hospice. The cost for lunch is $7.50. The meeting, which includes a complimentary meal, has been rescheduled for Sept. 10. Speakers will include Shannon Gardner of Florida Tax Advisors, who will speak on several topics pertinent to seniors, and Kera Evans, an elder law attorney for Florida Tax Advisors, who will address senior issues. The complimentary meal will be provided after the presentation. Nonmembers are welcome; the cost to join the chapter is $4 a year. Registration is required for these meetings. Fraternal Order of Eagles, Weeki Wachee 4372 Aerie and Auxiliary: Labor Day Carnival, 1 p.m. Sept. 5, 8263 Cortez Blvd. There will be games, prizes, raffles, entertainment and food. Nature Coast Festival Singers: Rehearsals for the Christmas concerts will be at 7 p.m. Mondays, starting Aug. 31, at Nativity Lutheran Church, 6363 Commercial Way. The chorus is directed by Jim Urbanski; the accompanist is Kathy Hackemer. New singers are welcome; the only requirements are be able to carry a tune and a commitment to the rehearsals. All music will be available for purchase during the first three rehearsals only; after that, no new singers allowed. New singers also have to purchase concert attire.
