Withlacoochee Rockhounds Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Show: The event features numerous vendors with minerals, gemstones, fossils, handcrafted jewelry and lapidary equipment. Festival of Trees: The annual event, sponsored by the Brooksville Woman's Club and St. Anthony Catholic Church, includes decorated trees created by vendors inside Heffernan Hall of the church. Rain Barrel Workshop: Cope with watering restrictions and reduce water dependence by learning how to make, decorate and place a rain barrel in the landscape to harvest rainwater. Presented by John Korycki, coordinator of the Florida yards and Neighborhoods program. 'College Connection' presents veteran services seminar: The speaker will be Matt Peters, veteran services manager for the Hernando County Veteran Services Department. Brooksville Elementary School Winter Festival: Sponsored by the PTA, the event includes three bouncy rides, carnival games, a silent auction, food and other activities. Pictures with Santa are $5. 5:30 to 8 p.m. Free admission. Presale game/ride tickets are five for $1 through Thursday, and four for $1 at the festival. Angels on High: The annual community holiday event includes a lighted angel pathway, holiday music, entertainment by various community groups and local entertainers, and Santa and Mrs. Claus. Floral City Heritage Days: Parking is available at Ferris Groves, just north of the light at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Orange Avenue; a free hayride will be provided to the town center. Activities start at dusk and include a fish fry, horse-drawn wagon rides, caroling and walking under century-old oaks adorned with thousands of luminaries. Free. Celebration of Poetry: Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to read samples of their works. Holiday in the Gardens: Clubs, groups and businesses will decorate trees at the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens. The trees will remain on display through January. Santa will visit, and there will be entertainment and refreshments served. The garden railroad will be in operation. Santa Visits the Library: Children of all ages are welcome to have their pictures taken with Santa. Parents and caregivers should bring a camera. No registration is required. Christmas 'Times': The event will include photos with Santa for the first 100 children, starting at 11 a.m.; the cost for a photo will be an unwrapped toy or $5. Donations of toys will be given to the Toys for Tots program in Hernando County, and monetary donations will be divided between Toys for Tots and the Nature Coast Humane Society. Visitors will also be able to make an ornament with the Hernando County Public Library System, enjoy cookies and punch, and have a chance to win a four-pack of tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
