Hillsborough County Fair will broaden offerings

DOVER — The Hillsborough County Fair will be held the weekend of Nov. 5, at the new fairgrounds at State Road 60 and Sidney Washer Road, fair association president Betty Jo Tompkins said.

In addition to all of the events featured last year, the fair will also have a gospel show on Nov. 9, Tompkins said.

And to round out the traditional dairy, sheep, swine, poultry and rabbit exhibitions, this year's fair will also feature goats.

"We want ours to be a totally comprehensive livestock show," Tompkins said. "We have a request for llamas — we just haven't figured out how to coordinate it yet — but the goat show is a go."

On Halloween weekend before the fair, there will also be an "old-fashioned harvest festival" on the fairgrounds, featuring period actors and "old-time country events," Tompkins said.
