Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class David M. Boyland, along with approximately 6,000 other sailors and Marines stationed aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman returned recently to Naval Station Norfolk, Va., marking the end of the ship's nine-month deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.
Boyland is the son of David V. and Christine Boyland of Spring Hill.
Bayfront Health Brooksville and Bayfront Health Spring Hill recently celebrated National Volunteer Week. Together the hospitals have more than 200 volunteers.
The volunteers help in many areas: front information desk, outpatient registration, golf cart valet service, patient transport, the gift shop and elsewhere. New volunteers are always welcome.

Note of thanks
The West Hernando Athletic Club for Seniors, which hosted its first three-league softball tournament on April 21, thanked its sponsors, including C's Pub, AFG Insurance, Silverthorn Country Club, Globe Trailers, Rookies Sports Bar & Grill and Hernando Orthopedic & Spine Institute.
In addition to WHACS members, also participating were members of the Spring Hill Softball Invitational League and the Anderson Snow Senior Softball League.
During the tournament, 13 games were played. Money to support the event and cover team prizes was raised through player entry fees, sponsor contributions and volunteer donations. Food and drinks were provided for players and guests.
New players for all three leagues are welcome.
