Hometown Hernando for Nov. 20

Gard’s Zoo shows off alligator: Residents and staffers at Brooksville Healthcare Center were entertained recently by Lynn Gard, right, of Gard’s Zoo, who spoke about the American alligator and other animals that thrive in the rescue habitat she and her husband, Ron “Gator Ron” Gard, run northeast of Brooksville. The Gards have been collecting, rehabilitating, exhibiting and educating people about exotic animals for some 20 years. Constance Spring, accompanied by her husband, Tom, enjoyed the up-close encounter and was pleasantly surprised by the softness of the alligator’s hide.
