Civilian employee honored for service: More than 120 men and women, civilian and active duty members came together on Jan. 12 to recognize Kaye Sass for her 26 years as a civilian employee with the Department of Defense at a special ceremony at MacDill Air Force Base. Brigadier Gen. Charles Potter presented Sass with the Award for Meritorious Civilian Service while her husband, retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer John Sass gave her the Air Force Civilian Service Retirement pin. Sass was also given a flag flown at the U.S. Central Command, the Airman Leadership School on the base and also on the USS Midway, the first ship her father served on. As regent of the Tampa Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Sass also received recognition and honors from the group.
