West Pasco Chamber grant winners:
The West Pasco Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors recently announced recipients of this year's grant awards winners. Grant award winners include:
AFIRE of Pasco County ($1,000): Funding will help provide developmentally disabled students with computer skills, reading, sign language and money skills training;
The Center for Independence ($500): Funding will purchase an iPad to assist clients with learning applications;
Connections Job Development Program ($600): Funding will help buy additional computers and software to assist clients filing job applications;
Pasco Education Foundation – Take Stock in Children ($3,500): Funding will cover half the cost of tuition for four years at an in-state college or technical education program;
PACE Center for Girls ($1,000): Funding will go directly to cover teachers' classroom expenses so they may continue to offer incentives toward engaging at-risk girls in completing their education;
West Pasco Pregnancy Center ($600): Funding will be used to advance the Learn4Life program to ensure that comprehensive, factual and relevant information is presented to moms and dads.
Money for grants was raised at this year's Ambassador's Spelling Bee. Local nonprofit members of the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce submitted grant proposals for a portion of $7,200 in grants. All grant applications were reviewed by the Selection Committee.
