In Magellan's footsteps

Visitors and crew members walk the deck Friday of the Nao Victoria, a replica ship docked for tours at the Tampa Convention Center. The ship is designed after one Ferdinand Magellan used as the first to circumnavigate the globe. Magellan died on the journey, but the Victoria eventually returned to Spain. In 2004, a crew spent two years on this ship to roughly follow Magellan's route. The Nao Victoria will tour Florida for five months. Daily tours are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tampa Convention Center. Prices are at the pier are $10 for adults and $7 for children. They can be purchased online at tallshipevent.com/Tampa.html for $8 for adults and $5.50 for children.
