Jingles, dog injured in Dunedin home explosion, dies

Jingles, the dog that was injured during an explosion and fire at his Dunedin home earlier this month, has died, according to officials with Florida Veterinary Specialists in Tampa.

The 40-pound American Eskimo died Saturday after he went into respiratory arrest.

Jingles was at home at 1524 Michigan Blvd. with his owner, 46-year-old Duane Cole, on Feb. 11 when the house was rocked by an explosion. The dog suffered burns and head trauma. Cole was also hurt, though the nature of his injuries is unclear. He could not be reached Sunday.

The cause of the blast is still under investigation, Sam Venzeio of the state Fire Marshal's Office said Sunday.
