At 11 a.m. sharp, tens of thousands of children and adults united at aquatic facilities around the world to try to set a new Guinness world record and promote swimming lessons to combat drowning. They were trying to beat the world record set June 18, 2013, when 32,450 people at 432 locations across the globe took the plunge to sharpen swimming skills.
