TAMPA — Mona, the 80-foot lizard perched upon the Franklin Exchange Building since 2006, is no more.

The iconic lizard, known as "The Mona Lisard," was removed from her home at 655 N Franklin St. on Monday.

The Wilson Co. plans to install a new piece of art, though the identity of the creation will remain a surprise.

Mona will be honored at a community event co-sponsored by the Tampa Downtown Partnership and Hampton Arts Management in hopes of raising the profile of the arts downtown.
