#1 Martial Arts in Tampa Palms is offering child defense classes in exchange for canned foods for hungry families on Friday.

Here are the details:

During this difficult time, children are going hungry and being exploited. These children are vulnerable to physical abuse and even abduction. As a community, we must work together to keep our children fed and safe.

On Friday, #1 Martial Arts in Tampa Palms and #1 Karate for Kids in Lutz are teaming up with Metropolitan Ministries to fight hunger and teach self-defense to Tampa children.

The Kidz 'n Power Child Safety Seminar will teach children and their parents about stranger danger and how to deal with bullies through hands-on training.

The cost of the event is 10 cans of food, which will be donated to Metropolitan Ministries. Come join this family event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday and take home valuable information to help keep your child safe.
