This year, St. Paul's School in Largo participated in "Books for Kids," a community outreach program hosted by the First United Methodist Church of Clearwater focused on children in preschool and elementary grades whose families are financially unable to purchase books.

The program's goal is to provide each child with at least two books, which are theirs to keep. Last year, 2,000 books were distributed to area children.

From Feb. 18 to March 12, students at St. Paul's were asked to bring in one or two new or slightly used books that were appropriate for children through the fifth grade. At final tally, the school contributed 999 books to the program.

This is just one opportunity of many that the school provides for its students throughout the year so they can give back to their community.

Founded in 1968, the independent Episcopal school at 1600 St. Paul's Drive serves age 3 through eighth grade.
