A new season means fresh ideas, and about 200 patrons at the 57th annual luncheon and fashion show presented by the St. Anthony's Hospital Auxiliary looked to Chico's, Sacino's and White House/Black Market for inspiration.

The crowd was especially taken with the men on the runway at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club: St. Anthony's president William Ulbricht and Drs. Paul Steven Collins, Kevin Huguet, Stephen Updegraff, Dwight Valentine and Larry Williams.

"They were great, and the women loved them," chairwoman Pat Howells reported. She also had praise for the women models, and for the styles selected. "All wearable," she said of the clothing.

Additional models included Joann Barger, Susanna Bellafante, Karol Bullard, Mary Ellen Conte, Arlette Ferguson, Kim Horstman, Christina Krasowski, Barbara Paonessa, Maritza Smith and Sarah Williams.

The event committee also included Mary Carlomagno, Roseanna Costa, Mary Delano-Newport, Sister Dorothy Dwyer, Ethelyn Henderson, Joan Jaicks, Bernice McCune, Valerie Rankin, June Wedding and Roberta Yancey.

The fundraiser was for the new St. Anthony's emergency room.

No doubt about it: The views from St. Petersburg's new waterfront condominiums are spectacular. The Museum of History's 89th anniversary party drew 200 patrons to the fourth-floor social area and pool deck at Ovation, where they listened to music by the Jim Morey and Los Hijos de Ismael bands and partook in food and drink from several downtown restaurants.

Planning the event were chairwoman and museum trustee Alison Barlow, trustee Lee Allen, Jessica Dwyer, Shannon Orrell, Greta Kishbaugh and Andrea Barlow.

The fundraiser will go to expanding educational programs, continue the Founding Families oral history project and support daily operational costs.

Temperatures here are far from frosty, even though the calendar says it's autumn. All that warmth didn't seem to daunt the models at the Stuart Society's fashion show for St. Petersburg's Museum of Fine Arts, who showed an array of seasonal styles.

Black and gray are fall and winter standards, and both seemed to be more prevalent than usual; maybe it's the economy. And perhaps that dark cloud is lifting: Accessories in bright colors lifted some of the gloom.

Designer Craig Signer was in attendance, and guests were treated to a variety of creations from his evening collection.

"The Best of Fall 2009" took place in the freshly remodeled Grand Ballroom at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort, and it was the first look for many patrons at the new chandelier recently installed therein. "Isla de la Luna" is the creation of Seattle glass artist Dale Chihuly.

Event co-chairs were Elise Minkoff and Ann Vickstrom. Committee members included Mary Wyatt Allen, Joann Barger, Kim Brett, Dimity Carlson, Celia Chapura, Blair Crimmen, Kim Horstman, Jeanne Houlton, Susan Lahey, Mary Paul, Carol Piper, Gail Pyhel, Angela Rouson, Nancy Rutland, Candy Scherer, Connie Smith, Edie Spies and Becky Wells.
