Pasco club plans MLK celebration


The African American Club of Pasco will host a birthday celebration for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Union Missionary Baptist Church, 6235 Pine Hill Road, at 10:30 a.m. Monday.

The program will include a symbolic march to the former Booker T. Washington School at 6105 Pine Hill Road, where the keynote speaker will be Marvin Dunn, author of The Beast in Florida: a History of Violence Against Blacks. Other guest speakers will include state Rep. Amanda Murphy and Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano. Musical entertainment will be provided by church choirs, the youth group Fearingstar and the Gulf High School Band under director William Rutherford. A variety of desserts will be provided after the event.
