Regis vs. Michael in the ratings
How are the ratings for Live! with Kelly and Michael compared to what they were for Live! with Regis and Kelly?
Pretty good, according to producers.
May is sweeps month for television shows, and the ratings for Live! with Kelly and Michael were up 8 percent over May 2012. And, producers said, the May numbers were higher than the final two May sweeps periods when the show was Live! with Regis and Kelly.
The latest version of the chatty Live!, now starring Kelly Ripa and former NFL player Michael Strahan, was the second-highest syndicated talk show in both households and total viewers. It trailed only Dr. Phil, starring Phil McGraw, and was slightly ahead of Ellen, starring Ellen DeGeneres. And it had the largest year-to-year gains of any of the top-tier talk shows.
Live! began TV syndication in 1988 with Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford as hosts. Gifford left the show in 2000, and then-soap star Ripa replaced her in early 2001. Philbin left the show in November 2011, and Strahan replaced him in September 2012.
'Doc Martin' likely back in 2014
I'd like to know when the new season return of Doc Martin on WUSF will start. Right now it is still showing reruns.
Susan Geiger, program director for WUSF, said the sixth season of Doc Martin has just begun shooting in Wales.
She said the usual schedule is that it is broadcast in the United Kingdom in the fall, with release in the United States after the first of the year.
So her best guess is that you'll see fresh Doc Martin episodes on WUSF sometime in early 2014.
Doctor drama died on the table
When will Monday Mornings return to TNT?
It won't. Monday Mornings was canceled by TNT in May after a single season of 10 episodes. The network cited low ratings; the show opened and closed with about 1.3 million viewers.
The medical drama about the lives of a group of surgeons was created by David E. Kelley (L.A. Law, Ally McBeal, Boston Legal, Harry's Law) and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a neurosurgeon and a CNN medical correspondent. The series, which starred Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina and Jennifer Finnigan, was based on a 2012 best-selling novel by Gupta.
'Emily Owens' will not return
I was wondering if the series Emily Owens, M.D., with Mamie Gummer starring in it, was canceled, or if it will be returning.
The first season of the drama starring Gummer (who is one of Meryl Streep's daughters) aired on the CW for 13 episodes, the last of which was in February. There will not be a second season.
