Q&A: Jennifer Aniston's first series was not 'Friends'; and other TV answers

Show's title is also the song's

On Memphis Beat, a song is played at the beginning of each show. Could you provide the title of the song?

If you're referring to the theme song, it's a remake of the Jerry Lee Lewis song Memphis Beat. In the series, Booker T's Green Onions is singing the song, according to Erin Naman of the public relations department at Turner Entertainment Networks (TNT).

Not-so-happy ending

What happened to ABC's Happy Town? It was on Wednesday nights. Now they're showing reruns of Castle. It was just getting interesting!

Not interesting enough, apparently. ABC pulled it from the air in May, brought it back in June, then pulled it again, and put the last two episodes (of eight total) on its website, And that is Happy Town's unhappy ending.

Two shows will return

Can you tell me if FX is bringing back Damages and Justified for another season?

FX has renewed Justified for a second season. It did not make a deal for a fourth season of Damages. But DirecTV has ordered 20 new episodes of the Glenn Close drama to air over two seasons in 2011 and 2012. Unlike DirecTV's deal for Friday Night Lights, where it runs premiere episodes and NBC replays them, Damages will be only on DirecTV. The satellite service has also acquired replay rights to the first three seasons.

Aniston in 'Muddling Through'

I say that Jennifer Aniston was in a sitcom before she was in Friends. Don't remember the name but she played the younger sister whose mother ran a cafe and had shot her husband.

Aniston made several tries at TV comedy before Friends hit in September 1994. The show you remember aired on CBS in the summer of '94 and was called Muddling Through. Stephanie Hodge starred as Connie Drego, a woman working at her family's truck stop after serving three years in prison for shooting her husband in the backside. But Aniston played Drego's older daughter; Aimee Brooks played the younger one.

DVDs will be along eventually

I am trying to find four made-for-TV movies after Murder, She Wrote went off the air and can't seem to find them. The last episode was in May 1996 and the four movies ran between November 1997 and May 2003. Can you help me find them?

My best advice is to wait a bit. The way most TV series are released — when they are released in their entirety, which doesn't always happen — is that sequel movies come out after the complete series has gone to DVD. Universal released the 11th season of the show's 12 seasons in February. has been taking orders for a box of the 12th and final season, but the release date hasn't been set.

  5. Review: Mark Bowden's 'Hue 1968' a gripping, and timely, history

More than 40 years after it ended, America's war in Vietnam is still contentious, still misunderstood, and fast slipping into the fog of history.

On Feb. 15, 1968, U.S. Marines carry out an assault on Dong Ba Tower in Hue, South Vietnam. In the battle for the tower, six men died and 50 were wounded.
