Roseate spoonbills drop in to feed

Roseate spoonbills drop in to feed on small fish, insects and crustaceans Monday near the banks of a canal at Sawgrass Lake Park. Shallow waters, favorite feeding grounds for the wading birds, are sensitive to pollution. Nutrient runoff can encourage cattails to overcrowd this habitat. The spoonbill population is recovering from the plume-hunting era.
