ST. PETERSBURG — Mary Jane Park, a Tampa Bay Times editor and reporter, is the new executive director of the Warehouse Arts District Association.

Park's extensive knowledge of the arts community and her commitment to St. Petersburg make her an outstanding choice to lead the growing district, said association president Mark Aeling. She will leave the newspaper after 32 years in numerous posts, most recently as the founder and editor of Bay magazine, to begin her new job on Oct. 26.

The Warehouse Arts District Association is a nonprofit corporation that promotes artists in the district. The enclave of warehouses between First Avenue N and 10th Avenue S and 16th Street and 31st Street is a growing hub for artists and businesses with plans for more tenants, including artists needing spaces of all sizes. Current artists include MGA Sculpture Studio, Duncan McClellan Gallery, Soft Water Studio, the Morean Center for Clay and the Dazzio Art Experience.
