Sulphur Springs inspiration

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and other city officials put a Sulphur Springs home on the market Tuesday, opening the door to a new era of improvement in the neighborhood. The home is one of 25 that the city of Tampa plans to build there using $1.4 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The project began this year when vacant, derelict homes in or near Sulphur Springs were targeted for demolition, freeing up 25 buildable lots. In the larger effort to boost Sulphur Springs, the city recently removed about 150 tons of trash and debris, had 408 streetlights installed, and opened a community center.
