Tampa yoga studio offers evening Twerkshop

It has been a week of the twerk. Earlier this week, few had heard of the dance. Now it's been deemed a word by the Oxford Dictionaries and a Tampa yoga studio is getting in on the act.

Sabrina Ivancsits teaches a "twerkshop" at Yoga Downtown Tampa.

The dance craze has been in the news of late, thanks to Miley Cyrus' now infamous performance last week on the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

Thursday evening's class was Ivancsits' second twerk class, which is taught at the studio and has been in the works for months.

"I felt that a lot of women didn't have the confidence to connect with their inner child," said Ivancsits, adding that she hopes the next class will be in about three weeks.

The class is $20. The studio, at 206 E Cass St., offers a variety of classes with yoga as the common thread.

For more information visit or search for Yoga Downtown Tampa on Facebook.
