The latest wrinkle in cuteness

Mavi, the elephant, marked her first birthday at Lowry Park Zoo on Saturday with a hay and lettuce "cake" (with a carrot candle) and a pool party. Her mother, Matjeka, was rescued from culling in Swaziland and brought to the United States about a decade ago. Mavi enjoys playing with her half sister, Mpumi, 1 1/2, the offspring of another rescued African elephant at the Tampa zoo. Mavi's and Mpumi's father is Sdudla, a bull from the Swaziland herd who also lives at the zoo.
